The BP Group Hosts Its Annual Holiday Party

| Category: Blog, Featured

On Saturday, December 1st, we hosted our annual holiday party at Russo’s on the Bay and celebrated 40 years in business alongside company leaders, employees, their spouses, and those who have helped us build a successful business throughout the years.

Honored at the event were the company founders, John Losey and Robert Barbera, for their hard work in founding and growing The BP Group to what it is today. We also acknowledged three employees who received gold watches to honor their 20 years of dedication to working at The BP Group – something we truly value and appreciate.

We welcomed our new employees with our longstanding tradition of asking them to sing a song and raffled off everything from a vacation to a TV. Attendees dined then danced to the sounds from the DJ, all while a digital backdrop featured images from the company throughout the past 40 years.

As a surprise, The BP Group employees gifted founders, John and Robert, with a mini getaway to show their appreciation for the amazing company and partnership they have upheld and sustained as leaders.

The holiday party is an annual event whose planning is lead by General Manager, Nancy Falco. Nancy enjoys planning the event because of the fun and excitement it brings.

“The party has come a long way – from the garage at the warehouse in Greenpoint to this great location, it’s much more exciting and a reflection of how far we have come as a business,” said Nancy when asked about the event.

She continued, “We host the party on a Saturday so our employees can enjoy themselves. This is a chance for them to socialize, get to know others, eat some great food, and really, just have a great time.”

While Nancy explained that the event requires a lot of planning and coordination, the leadership feels this is an important event that shows how much they appreciate their employees and it is great for the culture overall.

This year’s party was particularly special since The BP Group hit the incredible milestone of being in business for 40 years. From its humble beginnings of two people out of an apartment in the Bronx to becoming a company of more than 170 employees, The BP Group has created opportunity, careers, and community in what it is today.

We Use Data and Talent for Making Business Better

BP Group - HVAC Industry Leaders in NYC

In today’s workforce, there is no shortage of talented individuals. However, there is a shortage of those choosing to pursue traditional “service” type jobs, which includes field service workers in the HVAC industry. This is partly due to the Millennial workforce, which views this profession as a vocation (instead of a sought-after career) and a job that is not part of the “college to real-world” path they feel is necessary to pursue due to the pressures of societal norms.

But this perception is not necessarily reality. A slew of highly intelligent and skilled field service workers are changing the way we do business in the HVAC industry. Our software platforms and these professionals who work at the intersection of service and technology, enable us to rise above and disrupt how our company conducts, analyzes, and completes business. This is next level BP Group and this is how we are using our data and technology to attract talent and make our business better.

What We Do at the BP Group

Through internal motivation and a push from leadership, BP has transformed business processes by leveraging new technology partners and data that was previously unavailable or difficult to obtain, organize, and parse. This data allows us to have a better understanding of how, when, and where we spend our money and provides transparency between our company and our customers.

For us, our interest in technology and data helps us analyze customer behavior, employee personalities and performance, our business finances, and our overall purchasing power. It helps us understand behaviors that could change how we do business and the finances we have to support our decision-making.

The Takeaways

From this overall implementation and our use of data, here are a few key takeaways:

  • Using data creates more transparency for clients and an overall better relationship
  • Analyzing data provides helpful insight into making smarter financial decisions and provides buying power when working with vendors and other providers
  • As the availability and use of augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IOT) changes the way we do business, we need to embrace it and learn how to use and leverage the data for doing business better
  • Data insights can make a business quicker, cleaner, smarter, more cost-effective

As the industry continues to innovate and adapt, we must stay ahead of the curve and ensure we don’t lose ground – or talent – and keep pace to grow and make an impact. Our excitement and ability to embrace and implement technology will help us better serve our customers and provide more opportunities to talent to thrive.

Analytics, they’re not only used in sports

| Category: Blog

In today’s day and age it is no longer acceptable for a business to solely understand a current situation they are faced with. Businesses need to digest current situations while simultaneously formulating a tactical approach on how the next situation will be handled (prior to knowing what the situation actually is). One may compare business analytics to sports analytics, as it is vital in both to use past and present statistics to your advantage so you have the ability to forecast the future. Past and present achievements and difficulties need to be considered while collecting and reviewing statistical data in order to sustain a business that can both serve and solve the needs of their clients, just like they do in sporting events!

We at BP understand the significance of strong analytics. Through technology advancements, we now have the ability to generate valuable information from the buildings BACnet Control systems. Essentially, the building analytics will allow BP to maintain or in most cases improve the overall energy and operational efficiency, comfort, and maintenance of your buildings.

One of BP’s many various analytic advantages will allow you to set an optimum operating standard and will report to you when you are deviating from that standard. The result is the protection of your assets, conservation of energy, continuous monitoring to avoid system downtime and reporting on all key system functions. The reports generated are easy to understand and will allow your building management team to succeed at meeting your operational and financial goals.

The BP Group has a vast wealth of experience and knowledge of past and present trends in the HVAC and mechanical industry, it goes without saying that integrating a system that will assist in forecasting the future based on statistical data will better help us serve our client’s needs, before they even know it’s a necessity. Should you have any questions, contact Ralph Andrews, VP of The BP Group.
